Renters's Checklist

Set a Budget: Decide how much you are willing to spend monthly on an apartment, condo or house, including utilities, insurance, etc.

Review Comparative Market Analysis

Register for 24/7 Services: Receive email updates on new listings and price reductions.

Visit Available Rentals: Contact a local REALTOR® who handles rentals to advise you on leases, association fees and any potential problems.

Set Your Priorities: Do you need a pet-friendly apartment, washer/dryer, garage or patio? Identify what’s essential to you, and what you can be flexible on.

Choosing Your Rental: Your REALTOR® can help you finalize the lease. If there are repairs or other work that needs to be done, find out when it will be completed.

Credit Check: Most landlords require a credit and reference check. Once you’re’ approved, papers are signed and all fees are paid, you are ready to move in!

Renters Insurance: Your belongings are not covered under the landlord’s policy, so you’ll need to obtain a separate policy to insure your possessions.
