Mount Pleasant offers a variety of community atmospheres, suitable to almost any taste and need.
The nearly 28-square mile town of Mount Pleasant, New York is located on the western side of Westchester County. Grand Central Terminal can be reached in just over an hour via the Metro-North Railroad.
The town contains several villages and hamlets, including Briarcliff Manor, Eastview, Hawthorne, Pleasantville, Pocantico Hills, Scarborough, Sleepy Hollow, Thornwood, and Valhalla. Each of these villages possess a distinct personality, although almost all have one element in common — they are centered on community and family.
The small-town feel and charm move many to make a permanent move to Mount Pleasant’s villages and hamlets. Sleepy Hollow, a village whose name is derived from the ghoulish tale, is also the home of Rockefeller Estate, a six-story stone mansion featuring impressive artwork, sculptures, and incredible landscaping. The village of Pleasantville presents the Jacob Burns Film Center, a non-profit delivering independent and foreign films from around the globe. The village has a strong literary influence, as many writers have come settle within its bounds.
Although there are many employment opportunities within the villages of Mount Pleasant, many opt to commute to Manhattan, keeping their country retreat for the evenings and weekends.
