Carolina, Rhode Island is a tiny village located between the towns of Richmond, Rhode Island, and Charlestown, Rhode Island.
Carolina spans 115 acres in the lower half of the state. The village is included on the National Registry of Historic Places and its historic district boasts properties exhibiting Greek Revival, Italianate and Queen Anne Style architecture. Notable businesses include Clearwater Trout Farm and White Brook Trout Hatchery. These two trout farms were owned by the Hazard brothers. In 1903, the two companies merged into the American Fish Culture Company. The company continued as a family operated business until its sale to the state of Rhode Island in 1995.
Carolina is an easy 37 minute commute to the city of Providence, Rhode Island. The seaside town of Westerly, Rhode Island is a mere 20 minute drive away.
