Morris in Litchfield county, Connecticut

Morris

Morris was incorporated in 1859, offers an attractive mix of historic homes, sunny neighborhoods, and a bustling summer community on Bantam Lake.

Morris was named after Capt. James Morris, a revolutionary soldier who opened an academy in the town in 1790. Morris shares Regional School District 6 with nearby Goshen and Warren. Students grades K-6 attend James Morris School, and then move on to Wamogo Regional High School in Litchfield.

Bantam Lake provides residents and visitors alike with recreational opportunities such as swimming, boating and fishing. Mt. Tom State Park is one of the oldest properties in the Connecticut state park system. Mt. Tom's summit is a modest 1,325 feet high and the stone tower on top is popular with hikers. There is also a park offering swimming, boating, scuba diving and ice skating.

Education

The educational climate index chart is based on the U.S. Census Bureau’s Socioeconomic Status (SES) measure. Factors in this measure are income, educational achievement and occupation of persons within a ZIP code. Because this measure is based on the population of an entire ZIP code, it may not reflect the nature of an individual school.
