In the center of Connecticut's edge with Rhode Island, Sterling covers 27 square miles and is home to under a few thousand people.

At its start Sterling was part of Voluntown, then in 1794 it was incorporated.

Green pastures and picturesque views contribute to the town's rustic and historic appeal. Numerous noteworthy historical homes that date to the 1700s are located in Sterling''s historic district.

Although currently small, Sterling has a growing population. Agriculture remains as one of the town's main industries, its economic base is diversified and increasing, mainly in an industrial park near the center of town.
