Windham in Windham county, Connecticut

Windham

Windham provides a rural charm as well as all the amenities of a city.

Windham is a town of many contrasts, from the Colonial appeal of Windham Center, to the Victorian grandeur of the section of town known as Willimantic. In fact, Windham has more privately owned Victorian-style homes than San Francisco.

Windham is proud of its past, as its cautious restoration of Willimantic testifies. However, Windham also looks forward to its future, as witnessed by its watchful approach to land use and zoning.

Windham is less than an hour's drive from both Connecticut and Rhode Island beaches. Windham is also within easy driving distance to northern New England ski resorts, lakes, streams, hiking, fishing, hunting and camping areas.

Education

The educational climate index chart is based on the U.S. Census Bureau’s Socioeconomic Status (SES) measure. Factors in this measure are income, educational achievement and occupation of persons within a ZIP code. Because this measure is based on the population of an entire ZIP code, it may not reflect the nature of an individual school.
