The town of Stonington, Connecticut is located in New London County and borders the state of Rhode Island. A charming New England coastal town, Stonington includes the borough of Stonington, villages of Pawcatuck, Lords Point and Wequetequock and the eastern halves of Mystic and Old Mystic. The town was settled in 1649 and has a population of over 18,000.
Stonington is a popular destination with several attractions, including the Old Lighthouse Museum, Captain Nathaniel Brown Palmer House and Stonington Harbor Light. Dubois Beach is also a popular attraction in town. Stonington Harbor has beautiful seaside views with Mason Island and Enders Island in the distance. The town is also home to two local vineyards.
Conveniently located close to major highways, the town is within minutes to major state attractions in Mystic and is also close to Mohegan Sun Casino and Foxwoods Casino. The town was featured on several on-location movie shoots, including, Amistad, Mystic Pizza and Hope Springs.
