Windsor is a town located in Hartford County. Established in 1633, Windsor was the first English settlement in Connecticut. It has a population of over 29,000 people.
Windsor is in close proximity to Hartford (located 6 miles north of Hartford) and was home to the first highway in the Connecticut Colony (located between Windsor and Hartford). Windsor is also minutes to Bradley International Airport.
Once a thriving tobacco industry, Windsor has become home to many corporations that are part of the Day Hill Road area also known as Windsor’s Corporate Area. Windsor has many historic Colonial and Federal style houses, and is home to several locations on the National Register of Historic Places. Residential neighborhoods include Poquonock, Rainbow, Kendrick Place and Windsor Center.
Windsor has over 25 recreational sites including parks, playgrounds and athletic fields. The town is also located along the Farmington River for kayaking and canoeing opportunities. Popular sites include, Strawberry Park, Northwest Park, Connecticut Trolley Museum and the Olivia Ellsworth Homestead.
