The village of Slatersville, Rhode Island is located in the town of North Smithfield, in the northern part of the state on the banks of the Branch River.
In 1803, entrepreneurs John and Samuel Slater founded the village and proceeded to build a textile mill. Just a few years later the village came to include the Slatersville mill, one of the most modern industrial buildings of the day. The mill was destroyed by fire in 1826, but was replaced by the stone mill that still stands there today.
Due its somewhat central location, residents of Slatersville have the option to commute to several nearby cities for work. Slatersville is a little more than an hour from Boston, and just a 20-minute drive to Providence, and Worcester, Mass is just 25 minutes away by car.
Slatersville is part of the North Smithfield School District. Younger children attend the Dr. Harry L. Halliwell School. Older children attend the North Smithfield High School.
Slatersville has historic charm, great schools, and is in relative close proximity to the amenities that city life has to offer.

The educational climate index chart is based on the U.S. Census Bureau’s Socioeconomic Status (SES) measure. Factors in this measure are income, educational achievement and occupation of persons within a ZIP code. Because this measure is based on the population of an entire ZIP code, it may not reflect the nature of an individual school.
The temperature chart displays average high and low temperatures (degrees Fahrenheit) for the months of January and July.
The weather risk chart displays a percent value for a given type of weather risk as compared to the national average. A percent value greater than 100 indicates the area is more prone to risk than the national average; similarly, a value less than 100 indicates the area is less prone.
