The charming town of Ledyard offers peaceful, rustic surroundings with a rich tradition in Native American lore. Ledyard is also a promising community to watch for future growth and development.
Ledyard is home to the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe's tremendously successful Foxwoods Resort Casino. In addition to world class gaming, shopping, restaurants and entertainment, the resort houses a Native American museum, full of interesting historical artifacts and valuable traditional Indian arts and crafts.
Also boosting the local economy are dairy farming and egg production establishments, as well as several manufacturing plants. Ledyard is located along the scenic Thames River and is only a short drive from the Connecticut and Rhode Island coast.
Ledyard began as a simple maritime community, and this is evident in the picturesque hamlet of Gales Ferry. A collection of historic waterfront homes, attractive summer cottages and contemporary homes speckle the coastline.
Stoddard Hill State Park offers year round leisure and sporting opportunities. Skating can be found on the town's many ponds. Visitors and residents interested in hiking can find themselves on the excellent Pequot Trail.
